She was born in Piraquara in Paraná State. Lygia moved to Taubaté in 1933, after being part of the Constitutionalist Revolution of 1932defending São Paulo as the commander of Female battalion of independence. Here in Taubaté she has founded the Grêmio Arcadia, first independent women’s organization in town to promote charitable arts festivals. She has also founded with the journalist Judith MazellaMoura the first female newspaper. She has been one of the biggest cultural activists in Taubaté. She has worked as a journalist, teacher, poet, lawyer and historian. She was married to the poet CesidioAmbrogi, with whom she had three children.
