Dona Mariana de Souza Guerra was the name of the Portuguese woman she was the owner of Taubaté Land in the XVI century. She is Martin Afonso de Souza’s grandchild (Martin Afonso de Souza was the governor of India and Brasil in 1532). Dona Mariana , The Coutess of Vimieiro has never set foot on Brazilian land. From distance she ordered that in 1636, Jacques Félix entered therein “Sertão de Taubaté” (backwoods of Taubaté) to increase their territorial domains and found the town that would give rise to Taubaté. Dona Mariana was married to Don Francisco de faro, first Earl of Vimieiro, The oldest son,sncho de faro e Souza was viceroy of Brazil in 1718.
